Thanes Creek is known for its alluvial gold deposits. Hart Hill hugs the creek providing 1.6km of direct creek access. Our guide, Cade will explain the characteristics of gold, what's in the lay of the land, how to read a creek, and where you find gold deposits. He will explain what equipment is needed and why, and teach you panning and processing techniques. The two hour workshop is suitable for adults and children (site/group discounts apply), and includes: An experienced fossicker generously shares his knowledge The use of fossicking equipment; pan, sieve, shovel, and pick, and A vessel to keep your finds in. If you wish to then glean your fossicking skills, you can hire a pan for the day, or buy one.
